We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant to deliver a new construction industry community training initiative for residents of the London boroughs of Greenwich, Newham and Bromley.

Funded by the ESFA Community Training programme*, which supports projects that bring unemployed and economically inactive people closer to the labour market, this new project aims to broaden horizons and boost confidence for local residents wanting to explore the opportunities available in construction and the built environment. Key activity will take the form of a tailored programme for 90 unemployed individuals, featuring a range of specialised support including virtual and F2F IAG sessions, mentor-led masterclasses, personal development planning, skills training and work experience.

The Build your new future project will be delivered over six months from August 2020 in collaboration with a range of referral partners, including local JCPs, youth support services and housing associations, training providers and key local employers including A&E Elkins Ltd and J Murphy & Sons.

Ayesha Wright – Continuous Improvement, A&E Elkins Ltd said:

‘A&E Elkins Ltd. are delighted to be working with Building Pathways on this new community training project in South London. We have collaborated with them for the last year and as well as connecting us with local people, they have also helped A&E Elkins build relationships with other useful contacts within the industry. They are an extremely well run company and have been an absolute pleasure to work with.’

Mike Davis-Marks – Project Director, Building Pathways said:

‘Building Pathways was launched in July 2019 to provide essential pre-employment support to under-represented and disadvantaged groups of people, preparing them better for the world of work. We are delighted to be delivering such a vital and much needed service in Greenwich, Bromley and Newham as a result of the ESFA award.’
