“I’ve wanted to become an electrician for as long as I can remember, but after finishing my L2 electrical course at Croydon College, I didn’t have a job to go into or any idea where to turn, let alone any experience in construction. It was hard to know what to do next.

That’s when Building Pathways came into my life through their community partner. They helped me by giving me 1-2-1 advice and even put me in touch with employers. Building Pathways gave me access to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme Course (CSCS) and got me some work experience at Elkins Construction. And guess what? Elkins offered me an L3 Electrician
Apprenticeship! My experience proves how determination and the right support can really make things happen.

Even though I’ve been working at Elkins for over eight months now, Building Pathways still helps me with on-the-job check-ins and they act as a mentor when I need them. Thanks to their help, I found the right path and I urge anyone who is going through the same as I did, to reach out to Building

Elkins Construction partnered with Building Pathways in late 2019 to provide candidates with work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. Jamal has successfully been serving a Level 3 Electrical apprenticeship since January 2023.
